This is my 10th year teaching special education at Kennedy High School. Previously, I taught at Poplar Bridge Elementary and also in Eagan. I graduated from St. Cloud State University with a degree in special education. I grew up here in Bloomington so I feel very fortunate to be a part of this district and school. I am so happy to be a teacher. The fact that I am able to be here at Kennedy is just an added bonus!
About the THRIVE Program:
Our classes focus on the skills necessary to become as independent as possible later in life and be prepared to enter the workforce. Our goal is to learn and practice skills in the areas of self-management (nutrition, hygiene, social skills etc.), employment/work, functional reading/writing (labels, menus, directions, signs, maps etc.) functional math (basic computation, calculator skills, measurement, money etc.) and citizenship skills (basic history, government, services etc.) Most of the time we will work as a group but also provide individual instruction and support.
