School Canceled Wednesday, Feb. 20
Due to the projected snowstorm, Bloomington Public Schools will be closed on Wednesday, February 20. This includes all early childhood through grade 12 schools in the district.

Additionally, the following programs have been canceled:
  • All early childhood programs, including preschool, ECFE, ECSE and screening programs.
  • Kids’ SAFARI, Early Learners Academy and Galaxy
  • Metro South Adult Basic Education
  • Community Education
  • Adult and youth enrichment classes
  • The district’s two Activity Centers at Jefferson and Kennedy high schools
High school students participating in athletics/activities should check with their coaches.

Bloomington students earn honors in statewide art show

Students at Jefferson and Kennedy high schools and Oak Grove Middle School earned high marks in this year’s Minnesota Scholastic Art Competition.

Students earning the top honor of Gold Key include Kennedy’s Phoebe Sinner, Savanna Hanxana, Isabel Villalobos Alvarado, Samuel Lopez Ruiz and Ava Katz and Jefferson’s Kelsey Johnson and Samantha Ouellette.

Gold Key entries will be on display at the University of Minnesota Regis Center for the Arts West Gallery from Feb. 5-23 and qualify for the National Scholastic Art Competition.

Students receiving Silver Keys for their works include Kennedy’s Sinner, Hannah Butala, Lysander Colindres, Riley Mcguinness and Natalie Schmitz; Jefferson’s Johnson and Ouellette; and Oak Grove’s Madison Belgarde.

Students receiving honorable mention include Kennedy’s Madeline Hergott, Emma Moore and Annabelle Benitez; Jefferson’s Johnson, Bryan Belvedere, Luci Bianchi and Elyse Cooke; and Oak Grove’s Katy Campbell.
