Congratulations to Benjamin Griesel and Ally Starks for being named Bloomington Kennedy High School's 2018-2019 ExCEL nominees.

One female and one male student from Bloomington Kennedy High School are nominated for this award yearly. Criteria for the ExCEL Award includes: Junior in high school, participation in Minnesota State High School League sponsored fine arts and/or athletic activities, demonstration of leadership qualities, volunteerism and academic excellence.
Ben participates in soccer being elected captain for his senior year, track and field running primarily the 800 meters. Ben is also a member of the Jaza Band and the Pep Band. Ben is also a member of the National Honor Society, Math Team, Quiz Bowl, Science Olympiad, Student Government and the Bloomington Student Advisory Board. Ben has volunteered with his church, Feed My Starving Children, Arc Value Village and has gone on mission trips to the Pine Ridge Indian Reservation and to Houston, Texas.
Ally is a member of the volleyball team being elected captain for her junior and senior seasons. Ally also won on the Eagle Leadership Award for the volleyball team this past season. Ally is a member of the Kennedy Chorale, serving as its’ president. She has been All Conference for choir and is also a member of the Soriella and Con Brio Choirs. Ally is a member of the National Honor Society, Student Government, and Ignite Mentor. She also serves as a student member of the School Board. Ally also serves on the District Liaison Committee, Pathways Advisory Committee, and the Co-head of the Board Student Advisory Council.
We are proud to have them represent Kennedy High School in this statewide process. An independent panel of judges from schools throughout Minnesota will select ExCEL Award recipients in January. ExCEL winners will be recognized on KSTC-TV during the 2019 winter tournaments.
