Kennedy Graduation 2018

As we approach the graduation celebration on Tuesday, June 5th at 7:00pm at the Minneapolis Convention Center, we wanted to highlight the important events leading up to that exciting day.  Please pay close attention to the items identified below and feel free to contact me, or my secretary with questions.

UPCOMING SENIOR EVENTS AND OPPORTUNITIES:

Bloomington Senior Achievement Awards – Monday, April 16, 2018

Bloomington School District will honor seniors from both Kennedy and Jefferson for their achievement on Monday, April 16th at the Airport Hilton.  All students being recognized have been contacted.  The event registration begins at 5:30pm, with the program and dinner beginning at 6:30pm.  The award categories include Leadership, Curricular Excellence, Artistic Excellence and Volunteerism. 
 

Commencement Speaker Tryouts – Wednesday- May 9, 2018

There will be two seniors to deliver formal addresses at the graduation ceremony.  All seniors are encouraged to try out.  Tryouts will be held on Wednesday, May 9th at 2:30pm  in the Eagle Conference Room. If necessary, callbacks will be Thursday, May 10th at 2:30pm in the Auditorium.
 

Deadline:  Graduation Payment – Wednesday, May 23, 2018

The graduation fee for this year is $60.00 per student.  Please send payment of $60.00 to Carol Seal in the Dean’s Office by Wednesday, May 23nd.  We will accept cash or checks made payable to ISD#271.  We do not have the ability to accept credit or debit cards.  Students interested in setting up a payment plan should see Carol Seal in the Dean’s Office.
 

Cap and Gown Distribution - Wednesday, May 23, 2018

Cap and gowns are provided by the District, and will be handed out Wednesday, May 23rd, during Advisory.  Students who have outstanding financial obligations, textbooks from previous classes, or overdue library books will not be able to pick up their cap and gown until this is resolved.  Students will be given four tickets at the gown distribution.  However, unlimited seating is available in the three Pod areas for additional guests. 
 

Evening of Excellence –Tuesday, May 29, 2018

Seniors are recognized for academic achievement and as scholarship recipients.  The event is held on Tuesday, May 29th at 6:00pm in Kennedy’s cafeteria.
 

Last Day for Seniors – Wednesday, May 30, 2018

The last day of school for seniors in GOOD STANDING will be Wednesday, May 30, 2018. 
 

Graduation Rehearsal – Monday, June 4, 2018

Rehearsal will take place on Monday, June 4th at 3:00pm in the Activity Center.  Participation at rehearsal is MANDATORY, to ensure commencement goes as smoothly as possible.   Students who do not participate in the rehearsal will not be allowed to participate in the Tuesday evening commencement ceremony.  
 

Graduation Ceremony – Tuesday, June 5, 2018

Commencement exercises for the Class of 2018 will be held on Tuesday, June 5th  at 7:00pm.  The event will be hosted at Minneapolis Convention Center, 1301 Second Avenue South, Minneapolis, Minnesota 55403. 



Click here for directions and parking information.  Parent buses will be made available for a $5.00 fee per rider (children ages 5 and under ride free).  Registration forms can be viewed/downloaded here.  Please return the registration form and payment to Carol Seal in the Dean’s Office by Monday, June 4th.

This year's Kennedy and Jefferson graduations will be carried LIVE on Bloomington Educational Cable Television and streamed live to the Internet.

Senior All Night Party –Tuesday, June 5, 2018

The  Senior All Night Party begins after the Graduation Ceremony.   Check in begins at 10:00pm at Kennedy High School.  Registration forms can be viewed/downloaded here, or hard copies can be found in the Dean’s Office.  
 

Graduation Evening Photographs – Bushard Photodesign

For your benefit, we have made arrangements with Bushard Photodesign to have photos taken of every graduate when he/she receives their diploma.   
 
We feel this service will enable all parents to have a picture of their graduate while providing a dignified atmosphere.  Parents are encouraged to relax in their seats and limit their personal picture taking to after the ceremony.
