Kennedy Graduation 2019

As we approach the graduation celebration on Thursday May 30th at 7:00pm at the Minneapolis Convention Center, we wanted to highlight the important events leading up to that exciting day. Please pay close attention to the items identified below and feel free to contact me, or my secretary with questions.

Bloomington Senior Achievement Awards – Monday, April 22, 2019

Bloomington School District will honor seniors from both Kennedy and Jefferson for their achievement on Monday, April 22nd at the Airport Hilton. All students being recognized have been contacted. The event registration begins at 5:30pm, with the program and dinner beginning at 6:30pm. The award categories include Leadership, Curricular Excellence, Artistic Excellence and Volunteerism.

Commencement Speaker Tryouts – Wednesday- May 1, 2019

There will be two seniors to deliver formal addresses at the graduation ceremony. All seniors are encouraged to try out. Tryouts will be held on Wednesday, May 1st at 2:30pm in the Eagle Conference Room. If necessary, callbacks will be Thursday, May 2nd at 2:30pm in the Auditorium.

Evening of Excellence – Monday, May 13, 2019

Seniors are recognized for academic achievement and as scholarship recipients. The event is held on Monday, May 13th at 6:00pm in Kennedy’s cafeteria.

Deadline: Graduation Payment – Wednesday, May 15, 2019

The graduation fee for this year is $60.00 per student. Please send payment of $60.00 to Carol Seal in the Dean’s Office by Wednesday, May 15th. We will accept cash or checks made payable to ISD#271. We do not have the ability to accept credit or debit cards. Students interested in setting up a payment plan should see Carol Seal in the Dean’s Office.

Cap and Gown Distribution - Wednesday, May 15, 2019

Cap and gowns are provided by the school, and will be handed out Wednesday, May 15th, during Advisory.  Students who have outstanding financial obligations, textbooks from previous classes, overdue library books will not be able to pick up their cap and gown, until this is resolved.   Students will be able to keep their cap, gown and tassel as a memento of their graduation.

Graduation Rehearsal – Wednesday, May 29, 2019

Rehearsal will take place on Wednesday, May 29th at 3:00pm in the Activity Center. Participation at rehearsal is MANDATORY, to ensure commencement goes as smoothly as possible. Students who do not participate in the rehearsal will not be allowed to participate in the Tuesday evening commencement ceremony.

Last Day for Seniors – Wednesday, May 29th, 2019

The last day of school for seniors will be Wednesday, May 29th, 2019.

Graduation Ceremony –Thursday, May 30, 2019

Commencement exercises for the Class of 2019 will be held on Thursday, May 30th at 7:00pm. The event will be hosted at Minneapolis Convention Center, 1301 Second Avenue South, Minneapolis, Minnesota 55403. 

Students will be given four tickets at the gown distribution on Wednesday, May 15th.  Seating is also available in the three Pod areas for quests without tickets.  Floor seating tickets will not be honored after 7:00pm.

Senior All Night Party –Thursday, May 30, 2019

The Senior All Night Party begins after the Graduation Ceremony. Check in begins at 10:00pm at Kennedy High School. Registration forms can be view/downloaded on the Senior All Night Party event page, or hard copies can be found in the Dean’s Office.

Graduation Photos: Order your photos online

Class of 2019, your moment is soon at hand.  Matt Vollum and MVP Photography will capture two photos of your graduate.  Photos will be available three days after the ceremony at

We feel this service will enable all parents to have a picture of their graduate while providing a dignified atmosphere. Parents are encouraged to relax in their seats and limit their personal picture taking to after the ceremony.

The 2019 graduate’s photos can be found at beginning on June 3rd.
