Mr. Andy Beaton, Principal

Mr. Beaton has been principal for Bloomington Kennedy since the 2010-2011 school year. He is a graduate of Armstrong High School, has a BA degree from Macalester College, earned a Master's in Education degree from the University of Minnesota, and earned his administrative licensure from St. Mary's University. He began his teaching career at Armstrong High School as a social studies teacher, Dean at Sandburg Middle School in that same district, and then became assistant principal, and eventually principal at Columbia Heights High School.

Ms. Carol Kampa, Assistant Principal

Ms. Kampa has been the assistant principal at Bloomington Kennedy since the 2006-2007 school year.  She earned her Bachelor of Science degree from the University of Wisconsin-La Crosse and earned her Master of Science degree in School Counseling and an administrative licensure at the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee.  Prior to coming to Kennedy High School, she was the director of the Beacon ALP and the assistant principal at North St. Paul High School. 

I love working with the students and families within our Kennedy community and I strongly believe that all students can reach their academic and personal potential with the right supports and a commitment to hard work and a willingness to face all challenges with the perseverance of a Kennedy Eagle.

Ms. Kris Krenz, Assistant Principal

Ms. Krenz has been the Dean of Students, Assistant Principal, and Activities Director at Kennedy. She enjoys working with the students, staff and community of Bloomington. "We have such wonderful staff and community, and I am excited to work with all of the amazing students and families from Kennedy. I look forward to building on the current success at Kennedy in the years to come." Previously, Krenz served as the interim assistant principal, physical education/health teacher, DAPE teacher and athletic trainer at North St. Paul High School. Krenz finished her administrative degree at the University of St. Thomas and holds a Master's and Bachelor's Degree from the University of Minnesota. Krenz also worked with the University of Minnesota athletic department and the Minnesota Timberwolves and Lynx.

Sam Hostetler, Dean of Students

Mr. Hostetler is entering his fifth year at Kennedy. Mr. Hostetler earned a B.A. in Political Science and later an M.A. in Special Education from the University of Colorado Denver, and his administrative licensure from Saint Mary's University of Minnesota. Mr. Hostetler began his career as a Special Education and English teacher in Colorado, then as a Special Education teacher at Kennedy. Mr. Hostetler is excited for his new role as Dean of Students and is looking forward to getting to know more students and families. 

Jessica Rice, Dean of Students

Ms. Rice has been serving Kennedy as a Dean of Students since the fall of 2015.  After getting her Bachelor of Arts in Mathematics at the University of Minnesota in 2003 and starting her Masters in Education, she began teaching 8th graders math at Larkspur Middle School in Virginia Beach, Virginia in 2004.  After three years, she moved to Wayzata West Middle School for a year teaching 7th grade.  She found her niche at Kennedy High School in 2008 teaching High School Math.  Since that time, she served for two years as a Curriculum Coordinator and has obtained her Masters in Education.  She is currently in school at the University of Minnesota working towards her Principal's License.  Passionate for math, she stays involved in the math teaching world, but is excited to serve the staff, students and families here at Kennedy High School in a greater capacity as Dean of Students.

Mr. Matt Hanson, Activities Director

Mr. Hanson has been a health and physical education teacher at Kennedy for the past 10 years. Mr. Hanson is also the head baseball coach at Kennedy. Mr. Hanson enjoys all aspects of Kennedy and is excited about his new role as Activities Director. Mr. Hanson finished his administrative degree from the University of St. Thomas and holds a Master’s and Bachelor’s degree from Southwest Minnesota State University.
